Administration on Aging
One in six Americans, or the equivalent of 43 million people have reached the age of 65. From the AOA, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, comes a good mix of resources including a directory of state aging agencies, text of the Older American Act, an Eldercare Locator, pointers and facts sheets.

American Association of Retired Persons
Network with a vigorous group of aware and concerned citizens over 50. AARP helps "older Americans achieve lives of independence, dignity and purpose." The association advocates on the national and local levels on issues such as medicare and social security. Stop in for information about programs, regional offices, news, surveys, awards, calendar of events and more.

Choice in Dying
More and more, older Americans are breaking the silence about end-of-life issues. Choice in Dying advocates for right-to-die laws, offers counseling and educational services and publishes a variety of materials on end-of-life topics. Read the newsletter, Choices. And select "Legal Developments" for summaries of state legislation and recent cases covering topics such as living wills, health care proxies and physician-assisted suicide.

Eldercare Web
Financial, health, social, regional, legal and other resources, including discussion boards.

Elder Law
Affiliated with the University of Kansas Elder Law Clinic, but not just for Kansans. ElderLinks, annotated bibliographies, statistics, forms, and other materials that are national in scope for seniors and their counsel.

Health Care Financing Administration
Meet the federal agency that administers the medicare, medicaid programs and helps pay the medical bills for more than 72 million beneficiaries. HFCA, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, hosts a Web office stocked with publications, stats, regulations, rulings, fraud abuse prevention materials, publications and other state and national resources in connection with HCFA programs.

National Council on the Aging
This non-profit Washington D.C.-based association founded in 1950 touts itself as "a center of leadership and nationwide expertise in the issues of aging." Learn about programs and services including Senior State Action Networks and NCOA's "special interest groups," read news, get tips and tools for family care givers, and lots more.

National Senior Citizens Law Center
Resources and services from NSCLC concerning issues affecting "the security and welfare of older persons of limited income."
