A story by the Dallas Morning News detailing an alleged confession by accused bomber Timothy McVeigh sparked a media frenzy that caused lead defense attorney Stephen Jones to ask that charges against his client be dismissed, or that the trial be moved or delayed. The presiding judge refused the defense's request. Jones contends the Morning News reporter stole documents that detail the confession from the defense's computer system, but the newspaper says it obtained the documents legally. Jones also says the confession was faked by the defense to get some witnesses to talk to investigators.
Playboy Magazine
A second story detailing an alleged confession by Timothy McVeigh was published on the web site of Playboy magazine. The Playboy article, which claims to be based on documents from the McVeigh defense team, allegedly details McVeigh's actions leading up to the bombing at the Alfred P.
