Rude awakening
An incredibly banged-up man in both attire and demeanor sits slumped over in the last row.
His low snores don't carry very far, but indicate REM sleep. After catching several winks, he wakes with a start and decides it is time to leave.
He stands abruptly and bellies up to the gallery gate seeking his paperwork. As he gestures for the clerk, a bailiff intercedes and advises the man to return to his seat and wait his turn.
The woken giant looks at him and shouts, "I don't want to talk to you! I want to talk to HIM!," pointing madly at the clerk.
This is certainly not the way to go about it, and the bailiff makes this implicitly clear. He has one simple word for the sleeper, and he repeats it several times: "Out. Out. Out!"
The moment the courtroom door swings closed behind the banished man, the clerk, who miraculously missed the entire exchange, calls out a name and receives no response. It is clear he needs the recently ejected.
Now, the same bailiff who did the exorcising becomes shepherd and heads outside to retrieve him.
The sleeper returns and receives his papers. Turns to the bailiff, smiles and says, "Thank you." The bailiff replies in kind.
It is tough to decide who disdains the other more.
