Stroller derby
The defendant wears a full suit with a tie tied tight. The top of his head does not have a stitch of hair, but his long, dreadlocked ponytail goes down to his belt line.
He faces assault charges over an incident that began when he was bumped by a stroller.
The man at the helm said it was an accident. The man hit disagreed. It was an intentional pram slam, and he expressed his disdain. The issue escalated to fisticuffs.
The prosecutor now explains that the stroller pusher could not have been proactively involved in the melee because his hand is deformed.
The defense attorney scoffs at the notion that a deformed hand means complete docility.
"Couldn't his other hand be rolled into a fist?" he says.
The judge can certainly imagine it.
He turns to the defendant: "You're free to go."
