Oklahoma and the Death Penalty

Oklahoma allows the death penalty as an option in the following cases:

murder with malice aforethought
murder arising from specified felonies (forcible rape, robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, escape from lawful custody, first-degree burglary, arson)
murder when the victim is a child who has been injured, tortured or maimed

Oklahoma authorizes death by lethal injection. Oklahoma authorizes electrocution if lethal injection is ever found to be unconstitutional and firing squad if electrocution is held unconstitutional.

Minimum age for death penalty: 16

Executions since 1977: 11
