Lee: JonBenet Ramsey investigation still active
NEW YORK, (Court TV) Forensic expert Henry Lee told Court TV's Crier Today that the JonBenet Ramsey probe is "still going on." Comparing evidence in the case to pieces of a puzzle, Lee told host Catherine Crier, it will take time for prosecutors to put the little girl's murder case together. Then, he said, the big picture will be revealed.
Lee is among three key figures in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case expected to meet in Boulder Thursday.
This will be the first meeting between Lee, Prosecutor Michael Kane and District Attorney Alex Hunter since a grand jury completed a 13-month review of the case without returning indictments.
At this point, Lee said, prosecutors are taking a new look at old evidence. Furthermore, said Lee, there are tests that need to be completed.
"Alex Hunter did not give up," the expert, who has a long history with the case, told Crier.
A Colorado attorney shared a different opinion on Wednesday's broadcast. Thursday's meeting has much to do with politics and public relations and little to do with substance, according to Craig Silverman. The former prosecutor believes Boulder investigators are not truly active in the case but are trying to make things appear that way. He mentioned that Hunter is up for re-election.
Six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in the basement of her parents' home on Dec. 26, 1996. The Ramseys have consistently denied being involved in their daughter's death, insisting that JonBenet was killed by an intruder and vowing to find the true killer.
