IRVING, Texas (AP) — The reward was raised to $440,000 Monday for the arrest and indictment of seven escaped convicts accused of killing a police officer in a Christmas Eve holdup.

The FBI added $140,000 to the $300,000 reward fund.

The men broke out of a prison near Kenedy on Dec. 13 and are suspected in a deadly robbery at a sporting goods store in Irving two weeks later.

Other contributors to the reward fund include the state of Texas, the city of Irving, Crime Stoppers Anonymous and Schepp's Dairy.
