Third full day of deliberations ends in Blake civil case

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — The jury deliberating in Robert Blake's civil trial ended its third full day of deliberations Monday without reaching a verdict.

Jurors in the wrongful death case began the day by hearing readback of testimony then sent the judge at least one question about the meaning of the word "intentionally" in the claim that Blake caused his wife's death.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Schacter told lawyers the jury "wants to reword the verdict form."

He added, "I don't know how you can reword it at this point."

The judge sent the jurors a note telling them to continue deliberating.

Jurors began considering the case more than a week ago, but the process was interrupted by two court days off and a juror's illness.

The lawsuit claims the "Baretta" star is liable for the death of his wife Bonny Lee Bakley, who was shot in 2001.

Blake, 72, was acquitted of murder in a criminal trial that ended earlier this year. Now, Bakley's children are seeking civil damages from him and his former handyman, Earle Caldwell, who was dismissed from the criminal case.
