EAGLE, Colo. (AP) The office of the prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant sexual assault case was evacuated Monday when a suspicious envelope was delivered, but authorities said it did not appear to be related to the case.
"We received a suspicious envelope from a known prankster, and it's being investigated by state, local and federal agencies," said Krista Flannigan, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Mark Hurlbert. She would not say why the envelope was considered suspicious or how it was delivered.
Flannigan said authorities had no reason to believe the envelope was related to the Bryant case.
Hurlbert is handling the case against Bryant, who is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old hotel worker. The Los Angeles Lakers star has said the two had consensual sex.
Three men have been arrested and charged with making death threats against the accuser, and at least one of those suspects allegedly threatened prosecutors.
