Fourth escapee convicted
A fourth member of a gang of escaped inmates who shot a police officer to death during a 2000 robbery was convicted of capital murder. Joseph Garcia was part of a group that fired at Officer Aubrey Hawkins when he responded to a robbery at a sporting goods store on Christmas Eve 2000.
