5:45 p.m. ET    Clerk finishes testimony readback of forensic entomologist David Faulkner and medical examiner Brian Blackbourne.

6:15 p.m. ET    Jury breaks early because one panelist is sick.

DAY SEVEN: FRIDAY, AUG. 16, 2002
12:00 p.m. ET    Jury begins seventh day of deliberations.

12:50 p.m. ET    Jury foreman sends note to judge reading, "We would like to have [medical examiner Brian] Blackbourne and [forensic entomologist David] Faulkner's testimonies reread. Thanks, Juror #10."

2:25 p.m. ET    Jury calls it a day. They will return Monday for day eight.

DAY SIX: THURSDAY, AUG. 15, 2002
12:00 p.m. ET    Jury begins sixth day of deliberations.

1:00 p.m. ET    Judge announces he received a note from the jury foreman Wednesday afternoon reading, "We would like to have Jennifer Shen's recall testimony reread. Thanks, Juror #10."

3:10 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET    Jury takes lunch.

7:00 p.m. ET    Jury goes home.

DAY FIVE: WEDNESDAY, AUG. 14, 2002
12:00 p.m. ET    Jury begins fifth day of deliberations.

1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET    Jury takes morning break.

3:00 p.m. ET    Jury takes lunch.

4:30 p.m. ET    Jury returns from lunch.

6:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET    Jury takes coffee break.

7:00 p.m. ET    Jury finishes deliberations for the day.

DAY FOUR: TUESDAY, AUG. 13, 2002
12:00 p.m. ET    Jury begins fourth day of deliberations.

1:20 p.m. ET    Judge announces that jury issued a note earlier in the day asking for the audio tape of Westerfield's interview with police interrogation specialist Paul Redden. The jury will also be provided with a transcript of the interview.

1:45 p.m. ET    Jury takes coffee break.

2:05 p.m. ET    Jury returns to deliberations.

3:05 p.m. ET    Jury goes to lunch.

4:25 p.m. ET    Jury resumes deliberations.

5:50 to 6:20 p.m. ET    Jury takes afternoon coffee break.

7:00 p.m. ET    Jury finishes fourth day of deliberations. (Total deliberation so far: 16 hours 40 minutes)

DAY THREE: MONDAY, AUG. 12, 2002
12:05 p.m. ET    Jury begins third day of deliberations.

1:35 p.m. ET    Jury takes a mid-morning break. Six jurors spent the break eating snacks on a picnic bench outside the hallway that leads to the jury room. The others went downstairs to get beverages.

3:05 p.m. ET    The jury leaves for lunch. The jurors dined in groups. Some ate Subway sandwiches with an alternate in the Hall of Justice food court. Others walked to restaurants elsewhere in downtown.

4:30 p.m. ET    Jurors return to the deliberations.

5:50 p.m. ET    Jury takes midafternoon break.

6:10 p.m. ET    Jury returns to deliberate.

6:15 p.m. ET    Jury complains to bailiff that press is staring at them during their breaks.

6:35 p.m. ET    Judge receives note #28 reading, "We request to hear Detective Reddin's (sic) interview of David Westerfield. Thanks, Juror #10."

7:05 p.m. ET    Jury goes home for the day. Will return Tuesday morning.

DAY TWO: FRIDAY, AUG. 9, 2002
12:00 p.m. ET    Jury enters jury room.

12:20 p.m. ET    Judge receives note #26 (notes numbered from beginning of trial) reading, "We request all available evidence with pornographic images. Thanks, Juror #10."

12:55 p.m. ET    Judge receives note #27 reading, "We request the photo of Danielle L. Thanks, Juror #10."

2:30 p.m. ET    Jury goes home for the weekend.

DAY ONE: THURSDAY, AUG. 8, 2002
1:10 p.m. ET    Jury begins deliberating. After two months of testimony, the capital murder trial of David Westerfield is in the hands of the jurors, who began their deliberations following more than two days of closing arguments.

2:50 p.m.   Jury sends a note to the judge.

3:00 p.m.   Jury at lunch.

4:30 p.m.   Judge calls the lawyers but not the public or the press into the courtroom.

5:15 p.m.   Judge says jurors sent note asking to deliberate five days a week instead of having Friday off and he approved their request.

7:00 p.m.   Jury goes home for the day. Will return Friday morning.

    David Westerfield is tried for the murder and kidnapping of the little girl who lived next door, 7-year-old Danielle van Dam.
