12:00 p.m. ET    Court announces that deliberations are suspended until Monday, Sept. 16, because of jurors' medical problems. One female panelist, Juror #8, is suffering from irritible bowel syndrome and is on doctor-ordered bed rest until Friday. Another woman, Juror #5, cannot deliberate Friday because she has a day of medical tests scheduled. The full panel will return to court at 12 p.m. ET Monday.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 10, 2002
11:30 a.m. ET    Court sets hearing to discuss illness of one juror for 12:15 p.m. ET

12:30 p.m. ET    Court announces juror #8 is sick and the jury will not be deliberating today.

DAY FOUR: MONDAY, SEPT. 9, 2002
12:00 p.m. ET    Jury begins deliberating.

1:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. ET    Jury takes morning break.

3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET    Jury takes lunch.

6:20 p.m. ET    Because two panelists are not feeling well, jury breaks for the day.

DAY THREE: FRIDAY, SEPT. 6, 2002
12:10 p.m. ET    Jury begins deliberating.

1:35 p.m. ET    The court announces it has received a note from the foreman reading, "We would like to see the Mark Matthews video interview of Westerfield shown during the guilt phase. We would also like to hear Reddin's [Detective Paul Redden's] interview of Westerfield heard during the guilt phase. We would also like to have access to all the evidence from the penalty phase. Thanks, Juror #10"

3:00 p.m. ET    Jury departs for the day. Will resume deliberations Monday.

DAY TWO: THURSDAY, SEPT. 5, 2002
12:10 p.m. ET    Jury begins deliberating.

About 1:00 p.m. ET    Jury foreman sends note to judge reading, "We would like the following testimony reread: Jenny N. and Jeanne N. Also, we would like to hear the interview of Westerfield done by Reddin (sic) played during the penalty phase. Thanks, Juror #10."

1:40 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. ET    Jury takes morning coffee break.

1:55 p.m. ET    Readback of testimony of Jenny N., Jeanne N. and Detective Paul Redden begins.

3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET    Jury takes lunch break.

About 7:00 p.m. ET    Jury goes home for the day.

DAY ONE: WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 4, 2002
5:15 p.m. ET    Jury begins deliberating fate of David Westerfield. The same panel of six women and six men who convicted him of murdering 7-year-old Danielle van Dam must now decide whether he will receive the death penalty or life in prison without parole.

6:45 p.m. ET    Jury goes home for the day.

    David Westerfield is tried for the murder and kidnapping of the little girl who lived next door, 7-year-old Danielle van Dam.
