Murdaugh Lawyers Go Nuclear in Bombshell Murder Trial Lawsuit
Alex Murdaugh’s defense attorneys announced a federal civil rights lawsuit against former Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca “Becky” Hill, following the South Carolina Supreme Court’s decision to grant Murdaugh a new trial in the murders of his wife and son. The defense alleges Hill engaged in improper, behind-the-scenes interactions with jurors that violated Murdaugh’s right to a fair trial, and they are seeking damages not for Murdaugh personally but to hold her accountable. Attorneys also blasted reports that the attorney general may seek the death penalty in a retrial as politically motivated, ruled out any plea deal, and said they intend to take the case back to trial.
