AMEDURE v. JENNY JONES SHOW (1999)

The family of Scott Amedure is suing the "Jenny Jones Show" for negligence after he was killed for revealing his crush on a straight neighbor while on the show. The family accused the show of "ambush journalism," contending its producers ignited the shooting by lying to set up the guests and plying Amedure with vodka to loosen his inhibitions. The defendants argue the show was an expression of free speech and killer Jonathan Schmitz was a "walking time bomb."
