CO v. ANDRADE (2009)

31-year-old Allen Ray Andrade is accused of murdering transgender teen Angie Zapata. Andrade allegedly bludgeoned Zapata to death on July 17, 2008, after discovering the victim had male genitalia during a sexual encounter. The defense claims Zapata's deceit provoked Andrade and that the case is overcharged. Andrade is the first person to be tried for a hate crime in Weld County.
