IA v. BAHENA RIVERA (2021)

Cristhian Bahena Rivera is accused of murdering University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts while she was jogging in her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa. Investigators say Tibbetts was killed during a struggle when Bahena Rivera attempted to abduct her. Her body was found in a cornfield a month after she went missing. Prosecutors say Bahena Rivera confessed to the crime after 11 hours of questioning, however his defense team argues “he was sleep deprived and susceptible to coercion.” The defendant’s testimony also makes a shocking suggestion as to what happened that day.
