"The Firestarter - John Orr"

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Southern California was plagued by a series of mysterious fires. During an arson investigator's conference in Los Angeles in 1987, another fire broke out. Investigator Marvin Casey recovered a single fingerprint from the incendiary device and developed a theory that the fires were somehow connected to the conference. Later, after another conference and more fires, the forensic team finally identified the culprit and realized it was one of their own — John Orr, a Fire Captain and renowned arson investigator.

Orr was accused of starting numerous fires near Glendale, Calif. where he was a fire department captain and arson investigator. In 1998 he was convicted of setting 20 fires including a 1984 blaze that killed four people in a Pasadena, Calif. hardware store.
