BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A man who was fired from his dishwashing job at Billings steakhouse returned to the restaurant hours later, grabbed some knives and stabbed or cut some of his former co-workers while demanding money, police said.
Five people were injured Wednesday evening, three were taken to area hospitals, and the 21-year-old former employee was arrested at the scene, said Sgt. Clyde Reid. One victim had neck wounds, one was stabbed in the chest and back and a third had his arm slashed, The Billings Gazette reported.
The suspect likely faces charges for felony assault and robbery, according to Yellowstone County jail records. He had not appeared in court on the charges on Thursday.
Police were called to Jakes Downtown at about 5:45 p.m., hours after the suspect was fired for an altercation with another employee the night before.
The former employee reportedly entered the restaurant, grabbed some knives and yelled: “Give me all your money,” investigators said.
One of the employees threw dishes at the suspect to get him to stop attacking another employee, police repotted.
The suspect was eventually restrained in the kitchen until police arrived.
The suspect had been in Billings since Sept. 22 and was on prerelease for felony crimes committed in Missoula County in 2019, according to state Department of Corrections records.
