Follow along with the official transcript from Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office interviewing Michael Drejka after the incident on July 19, 2018.

Drejka, a 48-year-old white male, argues he isn’t guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of Markeis McGlockton, a 28-year-old black male, because he had a right to defend himself.

Gas station surveillance video shows Drejka yelling at McGlockton’s girlfriend Britany Jacobs for parking in a handicapped spot. McGlockton comes out of the store and shoves Drejka to the ground. Drejka responds by pulling out his gun and shooting McGlockton, who died later from the wound.

If convicted, Drejka faces 30 years in prison.
