Hearing scheduled for three white men accused in Ahmaud Arbery shooting death

Three Georgia men indicted on murder charges in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery are scheduled to appear in a Brunswick courtroom Friday, July 17 at 10:00 AM ET, according to a Glynn County notice.

Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan are accused of fatally shooting Arbery while running in a neighborhood near Georgia’s coast.

During the proceedings, the following will take place:

 

Arbery’s death has sparked nation-wide protests against racial injustice along with the death of George Floyd, who was killed under a white Minneapolis police officer’s knee. Arbery’s death has also helped pass legislation for state hate crime laws and other legislation to end citizen’s arrest laws in Georgia.
