The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office said Scholato and the teenager met up away from campus and had sex on two different occasions in December 2021.

Additionally, school officials said Scholato asked for nude pictures from the victim and sent unsolicited, sexually explicit pictures of himself.

He was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, one count of solicitation of a minor, sexual activity and one count of exploitation of a minor by electric means.

Sumner County Director of Schools Jeremy Johnson said Scholato is now suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal charges.
