The Road to Justice for Ahmaud Arbery: Defendants Back in Court – Court TV Podcast

Posted at 8:32 AM, July 23, 2020 and last updated 8:31 PM, July 17, 2023

The three men accused of murdering jogger Ahmaud Arbery returned to court for a preliminary hearing and we were there to cover it. Court TV’s Legal Correspondent Chanley Painter will join Court TV anchor Vinnie Politan with the latest – including whether or not defendant William “Roddie” Bryan was granted bail.

This entire case hinges on the cell phone video Bryan took of the shooting – video his attorney insists shows Bryan committed no crime. Defense lawyer Ecleynne Mercy returns to the podcast to tell Vinnie why she thinks the video is proof of Bryan’s guilt. Arbery’s death has inspired a new hate crime law in Georgia, but a hate crime law wouldn’t have had an impact on this case and Vinnie will explain why.
