MIAMI (Court TV) — NFL star Tyreek Hill took the witness stand on Thursday in Miami, where he accused his ex-wife of stealing from him during their marriage.

Hill married Lakeeta Vaccaro in 2023, and the marriage lasted 18 months. As part of the divorce, Vaccaro filed an amended lawsuit alleging her husband had physically assaulted her on multiple occasions. No criminal charges were filed.
Vaccaro testified earlier this week, detailing incidents for the jury in which she said Hill tried to rip jewelry from her body, twisted her breasts and nipples and scratched her body. Vaccaro said the arguments started shortly after the couple was married because Hill decided that he wanted her to sign a postnuptial agreement. She described him as “angry” whenever the subject came up and said the fights turned physical when she “didn’t say exactly what he wanted to hear.”
“Unfortunately, with all the false allegations, I think it’s time for me, you know, kind of come tell my story,” Hill said as he took the witness stand on Thursday. “I think that’s kind of important and share my side of the story because there’s always two sides of the story.”
Hill smiled and joked to the jury when his attorney asked him about his profession. “I play football, not soccer; unfortunately, I’m not that crafty, so I play American football,” Hill said. “Right now, I’m a gymnastics dad, currently. Occupying my time with doing that and not playing football.” Hill is currently a free agent, having most recently played for the Miami Dolphins.

Hill told the jury his relationship with Vaccaro began in 2019 and continued “on and off” until 2021, when they got engaged — the first time. That engagement was called off. The two reunited in 2023 and married that year. Hill described the wedding as the result of an ultimatum from Vaccaro: “She’s like, look, I’m not playing with all them games. Either you come correct or don’t come at all.” Not wanting to lose the love of his life, Hill said he married her without even telling his family.
Arguments began shortly after the wedding, Hill said, not only because of the postnuptial agreement, but also because of his wife’s jealous nature. Hill said he looked the other way when Vaccaro took his money after he gave her access to a “family card.” “She was stealing money during the marriage, while getting what she was already getting,” Hill said. “She was getting $15,000, but she was stealing around $60,000 a month.”
Hill said Vaccaro was upset that he was financially supporting the seven children he had with other partners and protested the amount of money he gave their mothers.
Hill is expected to return to the witness stand on Friday for cross-examination.
