GAINESVILLE, Fla (Court TV) — A Florida man dressed as a cat was arrested for allegedly stabbing his roommate at their home northwest of Gainesville.
Authorities responded to a 911 call that the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) says was made by the victim, who was bleeding on the floor. Also in the house was the alleged suspect, the victim’s 32-year-old roommate Omar Gutierrez, who was potentially armed.
Newly released bodycam footage shows two armed deputies kicking the front door open with their guns drawn.
The victim, who’s name has not been released, talks back and forth with the police, who still don’t know where the suspect or knife used in the stabbing is.
Moments later, the victim can be seen walking out of the residence holding a towel to his bleeding neck.
Eventually, the alleged suspect, dressed in a leopard onesie, emerges from a room with his arms raised. Deputies are able to lead Guttierez outside and into handcuffs.
“We exchanged Gutierrez’s cat costume for a green and white striped jump suit,” the Alachua County Sheriff said in a Facebook post.
Gutierrez is currently being held at the Alchua County Jail on a $1 million bond.
