GREEN BAY, Wis. (Scripps News Green Bay) — During a motion hearing for Taylor Schabusinesss, the woman accused of murder and dismemberment, the judge denied a request to move the trial out of Brown County.

Schabusiness, 25, faces felony charges of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and sexual assault.

The hearing comes after her attorney requested to move the trial out of Brown County or select a jury pool from outside the area, stating she can’t get a fair trial because of the publicity surrounding the case.

Responding to the motion, the state said nothing the defense argued warranted a change in venue or a selection of a jury from outside the area.

“I don’t find that it’s been excessive editorializing or really editorializing at all. Now I understand just by the very nature of putting pen to paper and writing something, you’re getting a person’s viewpoint but I’ve read those articles and they seem to be fair renditions of the facts of this case,” said Judge Thomas Walsh.

This comes after a courtroom video of Schabusiness attacking her previous attorney went viral. Gruesome details of the case also garnered widespread attention.

Walsh said a proposed questionnaire will be given to jurors to help in the selection process.
