Doomsday Cult Case Timeline: Idaho v. Vallow & Daybell

IDAHO  — April 23, 2021: Lori Daybell Attorney Mark Means and Chad Daybell Attorney John Prior filed multiple motions:

Means also asks that prosecutor not “CC” the court on discovery-related letters, accusing Wood of “back door communications.” In the filing, Means attaches recent letters between the special prosecutor & defense including Wood saying that Fremont Co. will not give him an autopsy report of Tammy Daybell.

August 4, 2020: A Fremont County judge rules there’s enough evidence for Chad to go to trial.

June 13, 2020: Authorities confirm the remains belong to J.J. and Tylee.

June 9, 2020: Police and the FBI return to Chad’s property and discover human remains in a field behind the home. Chad is arrested and charged with felony counts of destruction or concealment of evidence.

March 6, 2020: Lori has her first court appearance in Rexburg on felony desertion charges after being arrested in Hawaii.

January 3, 2020: Authorities execute a search warrant on Chad’s property.

December 20, 2019: While Lori and Chad are in Hawaii, Rexburg police announce JJ and Tylee are officially missing.

November 26, 2019: Rexburg Police get involved in the search for the missing children at the request of Gilbert Police in Arizona. Lori had told J.J.’s grandparents he was staying with a friend in Arizona. When that story didn’t check out, police returned to Lori’s Idaho apartment the next day with a search warrant. The couple is nowhere to be found.

November 5, 2019: Lori and Chad tie the knot in Hawaii.

September 22, 2019: The last verifiable sighting of J.J. by Gibb and her boyfriend in Lori’s home.

September 19, 2019: Melanie Gibb and her boyfriend visit Lori for the weekend. Lori tells Gibb that J.J. has become a zombie, which Gibb later told police nothing was unusual about his behavior.

September 8, 2019: Lori, Alex, J.J. and Tylee go to Yellowstone National Park for the day. Police say it was the last verifiable sighting of Tylee alive. Later, Lori told friend Melanie Gibb that Tylee was taking classes at BYU Idaho, but records confirmed the teen was never enrolled.

September 1, 2019: Lori Vallow-Daybell and her brother Alex Cox moved from Arizona to Rexburg, Idaho, with Lori’s children, J.J. Vallow and Tylee Ryan.

Rexburg is just a few miles from Salem, Idaho, the home of Lori’s future husband Chad Daybell. Chad is now a co-defendant on charges related to the disappearances of J.J. and Tylee.

 

 

FUTURE DATES

June 9, 2021: Lori and Chad are scheduled for a hearing in Fremont County on charges related to the discovery of the children’s remains.

August 30, 2021: Lori is scheduled to go on trial in Madison County on misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing officers, criminal solicitation to commit a crime and contempt of court.
