FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (Court TV) — Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish had the courtroom laughing as she entered a guilty plea to resolve charges that she drove under the influence.

Haddish, 46, was absent from the courtroom Tuesday but appeared virtually as she announced plans to withdraw her not-guilty plea and enter a guilty plea as part of an agreement with prosecutors.
Judge Jason Thompson asked Haddish standard questions during the plea hearing, including whether she had time to talk with her attorneys about the case. “Oh yeah!” Haddish responded. When she was read her rights, Haddish quipped, “I would like to fuss a little, but in order to get out of your hair, cause it’s been four years, and I’d love to take my hair off, I’m gonna go ahead and just agree.”
When she was finally asked whether she wanted to formally change her plea, Haddish paused for dramatic effect before saying, “Sure.” Thompson offered to give Haddish more time to consult with her attorneys, but she said, “No, that’s too expensive. I’ve already spent so much on this case.”
Haddish was arrested in 2022 after police in Peachtree City were called about a driver asleep behind the wheel on the highway. An officer saw a vehicle matching the caller’s description and pulled Haddish over as she was pulling into a residence.
Under the terms of the plea, Haddish was sentenced to time served and 12 months’ probation. Haddish must also complete 40 hours of community service; she has already arranged to fulfill the requirement by doing advocacy work for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. “That’s why I wanna get this done so this can get done,” Haddish said. “I know it’s gonna change lives. I’m very excited.”
Haddish asked what impact the plea would have on her driving privileges; when Thompson specified they would only be suspended in Georgia, the comedian appeared relieved. “OK cool,” she said. “I don’t plan on being there no time soon. So basically, you want me out of Georgia, that’s for sure.”
Haddish rose to fame after her appearance in the movie “Girls Trip” and has also hosted the television show “Kids Say the Darndest Things.” Thompson said at the close of the hearing, “I’ll continue to look for seeing you in the movies, because my kids love watching your movies.”
