The Families v. O.J. Simpson

Finding Blood On Crime Scene Gate
SANTA MONICA, Oct. 29 (Noon) -- In an effort to prove evidence could not have been planted, the plaintiffs called a police officer who described finding a trail of blood from O.J. Simpson's Ford Bronco to his front door a few hours after the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were discovered.

Officer Donald Thompson also testified that he found blood on a rear gate at the crime scene.

Thompson's spotting of the blood is important since it would have occurred several hours before Simpson gave a blood sample to police. Simpson's lawyers have suggested that the blood evidence may have been planted in a police conspiracy.

Thompson identified a droplet of blood from a photo of the gate at Nicole Brown Simpson's condominium shown to him by a lawyer for the plaintiffs. In cross-examination, Thompson was shown another picture of the gate and couldn't see the blood. He claimed that the photo was of a poor quality.

Earlier in the day, Sgt. David Rossi, who began his testimony Monday, also claimed that he saw blood on the gate.
