MIAMI (Court TV) — A former OnlyFans model charged with murdering her boyfriend settled a lawsuit with his family before reaching a plea agreement in her criminal case, court records show.

Courtney Clenney, 30, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Christian Obumseli, 27. Clenney and Obumseli lived together in the Miami apartment where the victim was stabbed to death. While Clenney never denied that she was responsible for his death, she claimed that Obumseli attacked her and she threw a knife in self-defense that hit him in the chest, killing him.
Shortly after Clenney was arrested, Obumseli’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her and several companies connected to their apartment building. The lawsuit claims that Clenney attacked Obumseli on April 3, 2022, causing his death, and that the condominium and its security failed to act despite a history of violence at the couple’s home.
The attorney representing Obumseli’s family shared multiple videos with Court TV purporting to show the couple’s volatile history. In one video, taken in Aspen, Colorado, weeks before Obumseli’s death, Clenney is seen screaming at the victim and hitting him. The video shows Obumseli grab Clenney’s hands as she yells for him to let go of her; when he does, she resumes hitting him. Attorneys for both Clenney and Obumseli each pointed to the video as evidence that their respective client was the victim of abuse by the other.
On July 31, Clenney’s attorneys revealed that the defendant plans to accept a plea agreement from prosecutors at a hearing scheduled for Monday. They did not offer any details about what the agreement entails.
Filings in Obumseli’s civil suit show that in the weeks before Clenney announced plans to change her plea, she settled with the victim’s family, prompting dismissal of the lawsuit. There is no public record of the settlement’s details.
Attorneys for Clenney and Obumseli did not immediately respond to Court TV’s request for comment about the settlement.
