Let me say that I'm not a big believer in psychic stuff. but... of course there's a but when I decided to do this topic for a chat Ms. Renier seemed like the most credible psychic out there. She actually teaches at the FBI academy, and she is referred to police departments by the FBI. One has to do with getting a feeling from a piece of the scene. She calls herself a psychic detective, and not a psychic relationship counsellor, but there are few questions back here about what other things she does, so we'll find out how narrow her focus is. I don't know if she necessarily does future stuff. She doesn't predict the crimes, she helps solve them. By the way, she was telling me a story the other day that she is the only psychic she (or I) know of that has sued a skeptic for slander and won. Or was it liable? Anyway, she sued the skeptic for lieing about her in a paper and won the case. Noreen Renier:  First of all, I would say that I don't solve crimes, police do. I'm an investigative tool. I assume you're asking if I do private readings as well, and I do do private consultations over the phone. They send me a peice of their hair and I tape record the session and mail them the tape. scanman7 asks: What techniques does she use? Noreen Renier:  I use psychometry. Which is touching an object that the victim wore or the suspect left behind. I also use remote viewing. Remote viewing is... I travel with my mind and I see where the "bad guy" lived. I watch him, and I can go to the scene of the crime and see it as though I'm there. I can become another person, seeing, hearing, and feeling the world through the senses of others, usually the murderer or " bad guy" psychopathic40 asks: Noreen... Can you tell me what the dangers of Astral Projection are? Noreen Renier:  Basically, astral projection is leaving the body to travel. I don't really feel I ever leave my body, I think my mind is travelling, not my body. I haven't really heard or read about and consequences of traveling with the mind or the body. I've never heard of getting trapped outside or anything like that. sticks_10_99 asks: can she help find missing persons? Noreen Renier:  Often, that's part of my job. I even found a missing airplane for an FBI agent's wife a long time ago. But in this reality I could lose my car keys LOL! Noreen Renier:  In the begining, I was very skeptical about this phenomenon, and I set out to either prove or disprove it. You know the rest. z_z_ziff asks: A couple of months ago I was reading email from a friend and all of the sudden the image of a tire blow out came to my mind. The next day the friend who's email message I had the read the night before had a tire blow out. And the other night I was drving down a road that I never drive on and I had this feeling that I shouldn't be driving down this road, because I felt that something was going to happen and a few seconds later I hit a deer. Am I Psychic? Noreen Renier:  Yes. I think we all have intuitive/psychic abilities, and what you've demonstrated could either be considered telepathy, mind to mind communication-- knowing something about someone else. ctv_will: Are you finding that computers are a good psychic conduit? Noreen Renier:  She must have been communicating with this person for a while. I don't think I could do it from just an e-mail unless I was involved in some way. I do it mostly over the phone--with older folks LOL! Maybe a new generation of psychics gets more from e-mail. jannajwl asks: HOw can you prove that you have the "special ability" and you aren't just faking it like alot of the psychics do? Noreen Renier:  I don't think I could be working with the police for 20 years and have as many successes if I was a fraud. Frauds and charlitans exist in many professions but they seem to flourish in mine because of the average individuals innocence/ignorance about the phenomena. Dubious_Substances asks: i'm a psychology student and i'm doing a piece of research on understanding without knowing does noreen think that maybe her abilities will be explained in this scientific way? Noreen Renier:  Scientific research was done in Durham NC, at Duke U. and the Psychical Research Foundation, and the University of Virginia. I love what you said, "understanding without knowing," and I definitely say that that's the way that the intuitive/psychic mind works. One step and we have understanding. With the ordinary mind, there are many steps before understanding. If you want to check out my brain, it's available LOL! I really expected for the researchers to tell me how it worked, I was thinking that they would have all the answers. What they were able to make me believe was two things. 1- I wasn't crazy. 2- I wasn't special. We all have this part of the brain and use it to some degree. It's sort of like intelligence or body strength. We all have it but some have more. One test that at Duke U....they hooked me up to EEG type machines and put me in a glass box and monitored my brain waves as I spoke normally and as I psychometrized an object. They could tell I was using another part of my mind when I became psychic. tj_redmond asks: I've had visions for years and even went to police on several occasions but not one took me seriouslyeven though the events came to pass. How do I get in touch with like minded people? Noreen Renier:  Number one, I have a very big rule, having worked with the police all these years-- never solicit. I never offer my assistance no matter how badly I want to work on a case. The family or police have to invite me/hire me into the case. In the very beginning, when I had no reputation, I worked for family and friends who had problems, and those success not only gave me confidence but also helped establish my reputation as an accurate psychic detective. As for the second part of your question, now adays there is always a course or something being offered at an instute or community college, or there are books. If you're interested in finding like minded people, don't worry, you'll find them. convertor asks: Does it affect you physically when doing your work, like tire you out...sick Noreen Renier:  Both of the above. When I work on a police case, I have to see such minute details with such accuracy and clarity that after working for an hour or two for the next day or sometimes two, I'm totally wiped out. rdhdidvxn asks: do u ever get tired of your gift? Noreen Renier:  First of all, I don't consider it a gift. A gift would be something too special. It's an ability that I've nurtured and developed, a God given talent. I never do get tired of it. There are so many ways to use the mind, and my police work is just one of the many ways that I use my mind psychically. palayoda asks: Can you " become " a person who has not committed a crime , in order to prove innocence ? Noreen Renier: I've never had to do that, they're not usually interested in innocent people. Basically I just touch an object on let's say a murder victim, and I see a face. I describe the face to my artist who puts it on a piece of paper and gives it to police. 90% of what I do is over the phone. dawnymarieeeee asks: Have you ever assisted in drawing suspects with police artists? Noreen Renier:  For all of my homicide cases I have a wonderful artist. He is a graduate art student from the Universtiy of Florida. When I was lectureing to the FBI academy a long time ago, president Reagan had just been elected president. The agents in the audience asked me what I saw in his immediate future as president. I felt a sharp pain in my upper left chest area. I told the audience that it was coming from the outside, not from within. I told them the month that this would happen and that he would not die. This is all on tape at the FBI academy from before the assassination attempt occurred. Astral_Boy_Wonder asks: Do you ever help solve a crime by a dream you've had or is it all done awake? Noreen Renier:  I would say that 90% of the time I'm awake. One crime I worked on in Ohio where the victims were shot, I had a dream of where the gun was hidden and the police found it where I had dreamed it. Dubious_Substances asks: despite psychic phenomena being sidelined by 'traditional' science there has been extensive studies into it, however overall the studies that have been conductied are inconclusive, don't u think that if psychic phenom. was a 'real' aspect of the world there world be more widely accepted evidence of it? Noreen Renier:  To the first part of your question, there is lots of evidence of this phenomena within the psychic community and it is called parapsychology. For 20 years the CIA was training military personell to develop this ability for the use of the CIA. ctv_will: Why do think there is so much resistance to these phenomena? Noreen Renier:  Because it's not like math where you can have a column of figures and one specific answer every time. It's dealing with individuals who are using their emotions which are not always consistent. But the one thing that the scientific community can agree on is that we all have this ability. It is called by many names, hunches, gut feelings, inspiration, and intuition. it all comes from the same part of the mind. knowshoe asks: do you believe in guardian angels? Noreen Renier:  I believe in guardian angels, anything and everything that helps us to be better people. I don't use a guardian angel at this time in my life, but I encourage you to keep in contact with yours. convertor asks: When out in public and you bump into someone, have you ever gotten a reading off them like that punk_rock_girl369 asks: i know this is besides the point but could you pick up anything of me if you wanted? Noreen Renier:  I can turn it down, if not shut it off. I've learned over the years to tune it down. I could tune into you if I desired, most of the time I do not desire to tune into strangers. It is work when I do it, when I get that package in the mail. But, being single now for the last while--divorced--boyfriends don't last too long. I am a hard person to lie to. But I think the average person really does pick up a lot more information than they pay attention to about their relationships. Deep down they know if John loves them or Mary wants to be with them. I don't really think there are skeptics though, maybe "debunkers" who are cowards. I think we should all be a little skeptical. v_vasarely asks: what's your religion? Noreen Renier:  I encompass all religions and find truth in all of them. I think I would lean more towards maybe Buddhism. I'm still searching and still growing spiritually. mtnsea asks: Noreen, are you psychic about your own life?? Noreen Renier:  I can be and unfortunately sometimes I don't want to be, but I can yes. But I believe that all of us have a great deal of control over our futures so I'd rather visualize good things happening than to keep tuning in psychically and wait for things to happen. I believe in my heart that some things will just be. LoveChild51777 asks: When was the first time you had a physic experience? Noreen Renier:  I was rather grown up. I was divorced with two children. I was in my late 30's when it happened. I was still very skeptical of psychics and psychic phenomenon and I had agreed to learn to meditate because I believed there was no hocus pocus involved in that. During my third attempt at meditating, I felt like someone had plugged me into an electrical socket. I could feel energy coursing through my body. It frightened me and it hurt me in what I thought was my stomach but was my solar plexus.  As I cried out from the pain, a voice that wasn't mine spoke through my mouth. I could hear but didn't understand and was very confused about what was happening to me. I suspected I was insane, that maybe it ran in my family and no one told me. When I opened my eyes, Joanna, a Winnebago Indian who was very spiritual was crying and thanking me for the message from her deceased grandmother. And the third person in the room was an ex-nun, and that started me on my quest. for the truth. Yes, it hit me up side the head, nothing subtle about my first experience. palayoda asks: How can you be contacted by individuals in need of your talent ? I won't be able to accept all of them, some of them there will be nothing I can do. ctv_will: And usually they have to send you something? Noreen Renier: Yes, if it's a homicide, the police will send me something off the body, and if it's a missing person, the family will send me something that the person used a great deal. I usually ask for something like a toothbrush or a hairbrush. I've had everything from false teeth to a pubic hair to bloody glasses, bloody shoes, and I even have a wedding dress here at my house that was sent to me. convertor asks: what was your most interesting case? Noreen Renier:  The most interesting one to me, and it sounds funny to tell, this one is interesting to me because it was validated in the courts by FBI agents and the people in the search. It was a missing airplane that i found. I was in Virginia and the plane disappeared somewhere in Massachusettes. I gave my client the longitude and lattitude. I led them from the air as if I was an airplane to where they crashed. When the client asked me if the plane had exploded, I could see it being swallowed up by trees. The two men in the front seat, their necks were broken. The I saw her brother, my client's brother, pick up something from the plane and carry it to a tree and place it on some rocks. As he started to walk away, I opened my eyes and yelled at my client, "No, there's no way you're brother could have survived that crash, you're making me see these things, I won't do it anymore." They found the plane three days later, the plane had not exploded, the two men in the front seat did have broken necks. There was headless woman sitting under a tree as if someone had carried her and placed her there. Her brother was several yards away.
